Where the wild things are...

Just got back from an amazing trip in Japan… Absolutely loved Tokyo; so eclectic and vibrant! I noticed a lot of Harajuku girls wearing animal head pieces. I need to get me one of those… Lady Gaga has definitely set the trend, the streets are full of it and today’s society seems to be more and more daring …

Above the clouds...

Whether it’s James Cameron, Tim Burton or even Obama who’s slipped wonderland back into our heads; the world is back to dreaming again. Our generation is becoming a “yes we can” generation, with scientists discovering how to re-grow limbs or even creating the real bionic eye enabling us to surf the web without a monitor (just viewing through the display in your contact). Scary but awesome!

The trend is ever so obvious; fantasy and wonderland inspirations are perceived all around in fashion, photography, architecture, and even baking! I love it!!!!

Alidra Alic...

"Alice in Wonderland" fairytale style is unquestionably one of the new trends for this spring 2010. I've been continuously noticing so many influences all over whether its in design, fashion, photography etc. due to Tim Burton's next movie "Alice in Wonderland” which is coming out in 3 days (so very exciting!!!) I have discovered Alidra Alic a jeweler from Copenhagen who has literally called her surreal and ethereal collection “The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland”. I have fell under the charm of her style… Take a look…

Flying Blind...

Two years ago I came across a real bijoux; a photography gallery in St Remy de Provence. Kamil Vojnar originally from Czech Republic is now permanently based in the South of France creating ethereal images that instantly captured my attention... Kamil's inspiration comes from exploring the corners of our souls where all our emotions resides. His images are composed of mixed elements, "the way we reconstruct our last night dreams"...

Bird on the wire...

As much as I love Hong Kong I still miss the little boutiques I had discvoered while living in Paris 2 years ago. One in particular called "Bird on the Wire" had the sweetest things all put together under one roof.

While I was wondering around on Hollywood Rd (the famous chinese antique road) I came across an awesome lighting store. I found the perfect ceiling light! The bowler hat is a must while you're still young and cannot be criticized for going bongkers;-) These smashing lights are designed by the British JaKe Phipps who displays some of his lighting designs at Innermost Showroom on 248 Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.

Speaking of SpeakEasys...

Last summer I visited a great friend from back when I lived in Blegium who now lives in New York. She is full of resources in New York and absolutely loves making me discover all her great hang outs. One I loved in particular was "The Back Room", a speakeasy where the giant fireplace and mirrored bar are leftovers from former occupants giving an authentic vintage feel. And to add perfectly to the antique mood the club is accessorized with period-perfect chandeliers, velvet paisley wallpaper, tin ceilings, a candlestick phone, and sundry Victoriana. To top it off the booze was served in teacups, a throwback to clandestine drinking during Prohibition era.

Secret Hongkers

Last week was a special someone's Birthday... Having together just moved from London to Hong Kong 3 months ago, I wanted to organise something special for him and celebrate it with all the amazing people we have met and have made it such a great experience so far! I researhed for ages for the perfect place where it could host 22 people in an atmospheric restaurant full of character... 

I had found just the place! Hongkers is full of "Private Kitchens" meaning a speakeasy (unliscenced restaurant). The restaurant I chose was a French private kitchen called "Le Blanc" and well... the pictures speaks for itself. The birthday dinner was a great success! 

Things you do when you're high...

Mushrooms can be a great source of inspiration and to the Canadian artist Zube he has made it the ultimate source of inspiration to creating his mushrrom-like home. What can I say... I just love it! This would totally be my approach for escaping civilization every evening. There is also a slight Gaudi-esc style to it which I'm even more fund of...

Sorry for being out of touch for so long. Been travelling back to London and then Brazil, Bahia where the highlight of the trip was swimming in the sea on horseback; TOTAL BLISS! A natural therapy I reccomend to anyone :-)

Maxime Simoens, a young 25 year old Frenchy from Lille has finally started his very own brand. He has worked with Ghesquiere, Gaultier, Galliano and Elie Saab but his own perseverance and thirst for independence has quickly turned him into a unique designer renowned for mixing elegance, structure, charisma and grace into his fluid and original designs.

The end of a Fairytale...

Starting a bit pessimistically… but it is irresistible to not share my grief for my first ever inspiration in fashion: Christian Lacroix, who has recently tumbled to ruins. The designer known as a genius when it came to meddling with colours, and creating luxurious images inspired by history and his origins (Provence). Yesterday the great French “couturier” was told to cease making haute couture... A part of the haute couture industry has died... But I have hope that Christian Lacroix will resurrect someday...
